Archipelago Cinema, Thailand

Archipelago Cinema by Ole Scheeren for Film on the Rocks Yao Noi, Thailand.
The floating structure was built in 2012 as a result of  a collaboration between the “Film on the Rocks Yao Noi Foundation” and the architect (Ole Scheeren, his site – buro-os.com).

The crowd floated in the middle of a tranquil lagoon in the Strait of Malacca, while enjoying a true cinematic experience via the floating screen in front of them. The floating movie house were built out of floating wood rafts constrained together with nets – a skill developed by locals as a part of the local lobster farming.

Archipelago Cinema was given its name due to it’s look which resembled several tiny islands the cinema took place on March 2012,
