Window Rock, Arizona, USA

Window Rock is a Rock Formation (sandstone) in Window Rock, which is the capitol city of the Navajo Nation. Window Rock is located in Arizona, USA, right next to the border with New Mexico. Window Rock was originally called in the Navajo language” the rock-with-hole-through-it (tségháhoodzání). Not far from the Rock Formation there is a monument which commemorates the Navajo code talkers. The code talkers  were men who were drafted during world war II by the U.S. Armed Forces in order transmit top-secret messages over telephone and radio in the Navajo language. the Navajo language was very equated due to its grammar, which was very ailian to the German’s and Japanese’s grammar. None of the Navajo code talkers’  transmissions were ever deciphered  nor by the Germans or the Japanese.

The Zah Museum & Library and the Navajo Nation Zoological and Botanical Park are right next to the monument. Recommended Hotels in Window Rock>>
