Popa Taungkalat Shrine, Myanmar.

The Popa Taungkalat (Taung Kalat) Shrine is a  Buddhist monastery sitting on the peak of mt. popa – 737-metre, if you choose to go up there it’ll be via 777 steps. The Popa Taungkalat is where 37 Mahagiri spirits are believed to reside. Statues depicting the spirits can be found at the base of the Shrine.
The etymology of the word “Popa” is apparently rooted in the the Pali-Sanskrit word ‘popa’ which translates as – “flower”.
