Meteora, Greece

The Metéora (which is etymologically pretty close to the word – “Meteorite”) is a very big & important Orthodox monastery in Greece. the Meteora monastery is actually composed out of six monasteries which were built on sandstone rock pillars dramatically reaching up to the sky.
The Meteora monastery is located not far from the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains, in central Greece. The closest town is Kalambaka.
