Hearst Castle is located near San Simeon, California in the United States. Hearst Castle is about 400 kilometers north from Los Angeles and 400 kilometers south of San Francisco, even though it is far from a major city, it still attracts over 1 million visitors every year.
Hearst Castle was designed and built for the newspaper Tycoon William Randolph Hearst, who died just several years after the completion of the “castle”. After his death the mansion was given to the state of California and it is nowadays a National and Historical Landmark.
The total size of the property is 8,300 square meters, it has a ranch with wild animals and several swimming pools (including a spectacular indoor pool).
